Non-Universal Repetitive Machine (Focus Finger)
2009
– prototype, useless machine
I designed a simple device made out of an old stepper motor for a very specific object that I own, in order to carry out a simple task over and over again. “Non-universal Repetitive Machine: Focus Finger” is made for my 2009 Hitachi Multimedia Projector CPX5. It focuses and unfocuses the projector over and over again. The work is a form of oxymoron and comments on our culture of consumerism built on top of the inevitable obsoleteness of consumer tools and devices.
