Steven and Jared II

Steven and Jared II is the second iteration of Steven and Jared(2005), an interactive installation comprised of a pair of dangling speakers and video projection of alphabetical letters flocking and flying around like insects. Via proximity sensors, the letters respond to which speaker the viewer is listening to (juxtaposed with different sounds captured in seemingly random situations) and slowly form a corresponding paragraph either about Steven or Jared on the screen (10 paragraphs total). Pushing further into the idea of experimental non-linear storytelling, the work uses the notion of flirtation as a creative mechanism and narrative device that enables fluid interaction between words and thoughts; private memories and cultural identities.
