Two Hearts

2025
Generative video

Two Hearts interlaces poems by Emily Dickinson with those of Kim Myung Soon—a tragic, pioneering figure in Korean literature whose longing and unwavering conviction in art resonate across time and space. The accompanying music by composer Yoon-Ji Lee similarly weaves together cultural hybrids and contradictions: a fretless guitar performs Gayageum Sanjo in the style of Sung Geum-yeon, while an accordion plays Women’s Life, the 1968 South Korean megahit sung by Lee Mi-ja about women’s suffering and perseverance.

As part of Rewilding the Home at Rulette Intermedium performed on December 16, 2025.

Electronics, composer: Yoon-Ji Lee; percussion: Satoshi Takeishi; piano, accordion: Shoko Nagai; electric & acoustic guitar: Dan Lippel; electronics & piri: Leo Chang.
